As the Poon Hill Trekking trail goes through dense rhododendron forest, the trek becomes more spectacular and picturesque if it spring (March-April) when it blooms.

Day 1
Kathmandu to Pokhara (By flight or Bus)

Travel to Pokhara overland following Trishuli River bank (6 hours) or take 30 minutes spectacular flight to get Pokhara. In Pokhara you can enjoy walking around to explore wonderful city with lakes. O/N.

Day 2
Drive to Nayapul and trek to Ulleri

Take 1.5 hours drive to reach Nayapul. Start walking from Nayapul. A ascend trail with gentle walk passing several villages we trek to Ulleri for overnight. Ulleri is beautiful Magar village. O/N.

Day 3
Trek to Ghorepani

Probably the hard day of the trekking. From Ulleri the trail goes up to Ghorepani through dense rhododendron forest passing several villages. Walking on the stone paved steps is something adventurous. Ghorepani offers the magnificent views of the snowcapped mountains. O/N.

Day 4
Visit Poon Hill (3210m. /1 hour and Trek to Ghandruk (1,940m. 6/7 hours trek)

Before sunrise hike up to Poon Hill. Poon Hill offers the stunning sunrise view at might Himalayas. One can get 360 view of 12 different mountains from Poon Hill. Then get back to hotel have breakfast and start trekking to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is an ethnic Gurung village. O/N.

Day 5
Ghandruk (4 hours trek) to Pokhara(820m.)

Day 7
Drive to Kathmandu (1,334m.)

Travel back to Kathmandu overland to see the green hills and small villages on the way or take 30 minutes spectacular flight back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu do some last minute shopping and in evening join a farewell dinner with Hike Manaslu Treks Team. O/N.

Day 8
Fly back home

A Hike Manaslu Treks representative will help you to transfer to airport for catching the returning flight. Hope to see you again in Nepal. Namaste!!

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

Are there ATMs on the way to Poon Hill?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Poon Hill Trek?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, Poon Hilltrekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.
